My Inspiration & Imagination

At RiTA I draw inspiration from my lifelong love of the sea to create stunning paintings, drawings, and prints. As a child growing up in Plymouth and as a member of a seafaring family and a veteran of the Royal Navy, I have spent countless hours on the water, studying its many moods and colours. This deep understanding of the sea is reflected in every piece I create, from the vibrant blues of the open water to the rich greens and browns of the underwater world. Whether you are looking for a striking piece of artwork to hang in your home or office or a beautifully crafted print to gift to a loved one, contact RiTA to discuss your requirements.

Artist Statement

I believe that the role of an artist is to create a visual narrative, one that speaks to the soul of the viewer. My work involves telling life stories, incorporating rich historical working practices and traditional iconography, to build multilayered paintings that capture the beauty of life in motion. The pieces I create materialise both the eccentric and the ordinary in a way that is unique and inspiring.

My Paintings

Welcome to RiTA,  discover high-quality paintings, drawings and printings. My philosophy is simple: 'art should be for everyone'. I create pieces that are accessible to all, without sacrificing quality or creativity. My goal is to inspire and delight my audience with every piece, and  hope that my art can bring a little bit of joy and beauty into your life.

I have recently been involved with organising an art exhibition at Manor St Gallery, Union St, Plymouth. After approaching the gallery owner Andy, he very kindly allowed us to organise it.  I approached several other students on the PDP course to assist and it all came together very well, with over 55  pieces of art exhibited.

It is running from 3rd May to the middle of May 2024. We have included 8 students from our PDP course at AUP, and 7 other fellow artists from the local community. From  designing the poster, curating and organising the art of  my fellow artists,  and finally presenting an exhibition, Thanks to Andy, the owner, for allowing us the opportunity to gain the experience.

He is also allowing us to organise further exhibitions in July & September, and a Arts& Craft show on the HOE, so watch this space for further dates in the summer.

My Publication
Having grown up in Plymouth, I would spend summer days on the beach, with my mum and siblings and holidays filled with reading Enid Blyton. This publication is a narrative of my family and of growing up in Plymouth  and it is  dedicated to my lovely family.
